Signs of Happiness: The Birth of Design and Daily Life
Signs of Happiness: The Birth of Design and Daily Life
〈Symbols of Happiness: The Birth of Design and Daily Life〉, the online exhibition website was opened. We ask for the participation of many members of the Korean Society of Design History. 〈Signs of Happiness: The Birth of Design and Daily Life〉 The tool reveals itself in the face of impossibility. It means that things in your hand appear in front of your eyes and attract attention only when it is confirmed that they are inoperable. For example, let's say you have a tool that you use in your daily life. It may be a stapler or a pen. When it works, we are not particularly conscious of the existence of the tool, we only use it habitually according to our needs and purposes. However, when it is broken or damaged and does not work, we are conscious of the existence of the tool, looking at the structure, and paying attention from a different perspective than before. It can be said that this is why everyday life that has been taken for granted and that has not been paid attention to now comes to a new meaning. “It's difficult to get back to your old routine. We need to prepare for a new sustainable routine.” As the actual changes caused by Corona 19 take place, the previous ways of life are losing their validity one by one. When you go out, you need to bring a mask, keep your distance from those you are close to, and access the teleconferencing program in order to take classes. You should refrain from going out and meeting, remembering the invisible virus, and washing your hands often. In this situation, people look at the disappearing daily life with a nostalgic gaze. Regret and longing are buried in that gaze. It reminds me of how precious the way of life, which seemed to be nothing special and trivial, was repeated every day. The DDP Design Archive special exhibition'Signs of Happiness: The Birth of Design and Daily Life' was planned in this context. The interest in the exhibition is not in the daily life to come. It pays attention to the daily life before Corona 19 was swept away, the so-called modern life, and the daily life that continues to the present. · Host: Seoul Design Foundation (CEO: Kyung-ran Choi) · Organizer: DDP Design Museum (Director: Kyungran Choi) Planning Director: Oh Chang-seop (Professor, Konkuk University) Planning Assistant: Minkyung Seo (Editor of Monthly 〈Design〉) Research: Choi Eun-byul, Ko Min-kyung · Research Assistant: Jieun Kang, Abin Kim, Yuna Kim, Jihye Kim, Doohee Lim · Graphic design: daily practice Website design and development: daily practice, V code · 3D Modeling: Zero Lab Exhibition Advisory: Kim Yong-ju (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Design Planning Hall) · Progress: Jin-bae Park (Director of DDP Operation Division), Yun-hee Kim (Director of DDP Design Museum), Hee-won Jang (Appointment of DDP Design Museum) Cooperation: Jiyeon Kang (Appointment of DDP Design Museum), Soyeon Kim (Appointment of DDP Design Museum), Seoul Design Foundation PR Planning Team, Design R&D Center, Facility Safety Team · Education operation: With People Company · Photographed by Stone Kids · Translation: Two-Way Trans
