“Design Korea” is a book that summarizes the journey of change and development in connection with government policy and design industry. In Korea, which has achieved dramatic growth through state-led planned industrial development, it is very important to understand the changes in government policy related to design in understanding the topography of the design industry. In that respect, this book, produced in commemoration of 2020, 50 years after the Korea Institute of Design Promotion promoted the government-led policy to promote the design industry, is of great significance. In 1970, the per capita national income was only 250 dollars, but now, 50 years later, it ranks 10th in the world of GDP and is now an economy that aids other countries. Korean design, along with the trend of economic and social changes, has been a strategy for realizing an inclusive state, and design, which has been centered on aesthetics such as packaging and exterior, is now a strategy for realizing an inclusive state, creating new industries and solving social problems. As a growth engine, it is playing a leading role in leading innovation. Design Korea contains the history of design promotion from the past 50 years, and the history of Korean design from before the founding of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion to the present day.
