요약

The purpose of this study is to examine the background, purpose, and formative features of architecture in the fascist era, and among them, the purpose of clarifying the relationship between the features of fascist design in Japan and Korea. Through literature research, the representative formative styles and characteristics of imperialist countries such as ancient Rome, modern Italy, Germany, and Japan are examined. Among them, the occurrence and characteristics of the “canonical style” architecture representing the Japanese fascist era in the 1930s, the process of change and examples, etc., are specifically clarified, and the influence on the colonial countries at that time is examined. Based on this, we compare and analyze the so-called “Korean architecture” that appeared in Korea in the 1960s and 1970s and canon style architecture to find similarities and infer the relationship of influence. In addition, it compares the various nationalist discussions and political events that took place in Korean society at that time, the Japanese occupation period, and the activities of Japan. The canon style, which is a Japanese fascist architectural style, is very similar to the Korean architecture that appeared in Korea in the 1960s and 70s. Considering the culture of the military and the tendency to control or use art at the time, it is presumed that Korean architecture was created using the Japanese colonial style as a role model. Therefore, Korean architecture that appeared in the 1960s and 1970s has the architectural characteristics of the fascist era and can be defined as fascist architecture.
