The study of design history is requested from two dimensions: the external necessity of social recognition as a specialized field and the internal necessity of historical consciousness to understand design behavior and practice in time. Historical research aims at objectivity based on facts, but in fact there is no absolute objectivity in historical research. Anyway, historical research cannot avoid some degree of subjectivity, and, contrary to the expectations of modern history beginners, it is located somewhere between fact and fiction (fiction) rather than scientific. The function of history can be largely seen as'justification' and'reflection', and research on the history of Korean design does not deviate from this. What is important in the study of Korean design history is the establishment of relationships with world design history. To be precise, it is a relationship with Western design history, which is known to represent world design history. Although Korean design history and Western design history are different, they should not be viewed as exclusive or confrontational; they are neither the same nor completely separate. Rather, in the relationship of appropriately relativizing Western design history, the perception of Korean design history becomes more pronounced. Furthermore, the study of the history of Korean design has the meaning of the full-fledged emergence of the discourse of Korean design, and will provide an opportunity for Korean design to roll into two wheels of discourse and practice.정당화, 성찰, 서양 디자인사, 한국 디자인사, 디자인 담론
